SS CODE: A New Smart and Short QR like Code for Mobile Devices
What is SS CODE?
SS CODE stands for Smart and Short Code. It’s a two-dimensional barcode like data coding technology consisting of black and white patterns arranged in various geometric figures.SS CODE is designed specifically for quick & easy scan by even low resolution mobile devices camera. This technology includes a web application which embeds the video URL/unique data into a SS CODE and generates an image. These images can be a print on paper. One can use SS CODE reader software installed on their Smartphone’s to decode the image and get automatically redirected to the embedded video URL.
What is the use?
It plays a momentum role in real world object hyperlinking. It’s like converting static real world into dynamic virtual world. Just Imagine! While reading news paper wouldn’t it be nice to watch videos of article/image which we are reading with just a touch on our mobile phones. How wonderful it would be if we can see the trailers of the movies advertised on the news paper. Same applies with amazing promotional videos of products. Last but not the least the greatest advantage of this technology is for students. Will it not be great if our boring text books become interactive and start showing us the wonderful relevant educational videos without any effort? These are few applications of SS CODE which are just a tip of iceberg. Only the sky is a limit for its innumerable applications in the real world.
What is the Scope?
Due to the advent of smart phones and availability of high speed data transfer mobile networks like 3G/4G, makes these technology an ideal technology of mass benefit. With more than 10 million 3G customers in India and growing at a fast rate, technologies like this have a widespread impact. The low cost laptop(with built-in camera) getting released by Indian HRD ministry with SS CODE reader software installed in it, will transform the way we get the education in India.
What is unique about SS CODE?
As the name indicates, it has two major advantages compared to its competitors. Its highly optimized data pattern which enable reader software to decode the data within no time. It uses the Reed Solomon Codes for automatic error correction making the scanning process very fast. It’s not just smart it’s short as well. Huge amount of data can be packed into an image of size as low as 1cm * 1cm.
